Turning Old Photos into Digital Paintings

This digital painting captures the serene, warm atmosphere of a vibrant sunset viewed from a fire lookout tower. Inspired by an old photograph I took in 2021 while exploring Dadeville, AL, this piece explores the intersection of memory and digital art.

The focus of this study was to master atmospheric lighting and high-contrast silhouettes within a landscape painting. By using custom brushes in Adobe Photoshop, I aimed to recreate the deep shadows and brilliant oranges of fading natural light.
